Disinfectant Wipes & Infection Control
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as MRSA, VRE, and VISA, are an increasing problem in hospitals and healthcare facilities. These pathogens are difficult to treat and can have serious consequences in facilities where patients are already vulnerable. Healthcare-Acquired Infections (HAIs), especially of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, cost hospitals money, time, and resources. The best way to avoid this is to prevent outbreaks, so there’s no need to control outbreaks.
While concentrated disinfectants are the most cost-effective and efficient method for daily disinfecting, they have extra opportunity for error, which lies in the dilution step. If a disinfectant is not diluted correctly, its pathogen claims may not be effective. Disinfectant wipes take away this uncertainty by being pre-diluted, and they save the time needed to dilute a concentrate. Disinfectant wipe are ideal to keep in patient rooms or high-traffic areas for a quick, easy way to disinfect throughout the day and keep contamination at bay.
Like concentrated or ready-to-use disinfectants, disinfectant wipes need to leave the surface visibly wet for an allotted amount of time, which can be found on the label, in order to effectively kill its claimed pathogens. If possible, the surface should be allowed to air-dry.
